Luther: This stunning white-coated stallion was born into an old, wealthy Horseman family. Against his family’s wishes, he left home at an early age to join the Fighting Carriers. Luther is courageous and has a rebellious nature.

Moor: A handsome, brown-coated former Fighting Carrier, Moor earns a good living as a private Carrier flying difficult missions to the Spikelands. Though approaching his early middle-years, Moor still out-travels Horsemen half his age. This widower who long ago lost his wife after only a few short years of marriage, is quite convinced he'll never love again.

Terra: This stunning, black-coated, blue-eyed Fighting Carrier set a speed record that has yet to be broken. A bit on the arrogant side, Terra loves racing, lovemaking, and most of all his dream-lover, Inez.

Wilder: This handsome stallion has a blood bay equine coat, black human hair and gorgeous blue eyes. He is an instructor at the Hall of Fighting Carriers. In his youth he worked at Lawton Orchards but left at an early age to become a Fighting Carrier. He has a reputation as a ladies’ Horseman, but when he falls in love all his attention focuses on his woman.

Wren:With a pure white coat and silky hair and beard to match, Wren arrives as the perfect holiday gift for his dream lover, Mya. (From the short story "Holiday in Hornview" which can be read in the files section of Kate Hill's newsletter.)

Zach: In spite of his youth, Zach has seen the harder side of life. Enslaved as a child, Zach honed his magnificent draft-horse physique through years of hard labor in the dreaded mines of the Vertue Mountains. This gentle, caring stallion possesses more raw power than any Horseman should and is determined to use it to earn his fortune as a champion puller in the fair circuit.

HEROINES

Inez: A Gatherer trained to accompany Horsemen on rough journeys to harvest Rock Blood, Inez is not yet ready to give up her freedom. Raised by a Horseman, she adores the sensual species but knows them well enough not to consider marrying one. To her dismay, the gorgeous stallion who visits her dreams is impossible to resist.

Janelle:As a Gatherer, Janelle traveled extensively but when she met her dream lover, Wilder, she settled down into a career as a riding instructor at the Hall of Fighting Carriers. Janelle is extremely independent, determined, and loyal to those she loves.

Mya: Living on the outskirts of Hornview, Mya braves the severe winter storms alone while waiting to meet the striking white-coated Horsemen who shares her dreams. (From the short story "Holiday in Hornview" which can be read in the files section of Kate Hill's newsletter.)

Phillipa:
This tall, black-haired Horseman’s daughter worked hard to make her way as a messenger in a male-dominated world. She loves spending time with her family and has a way with true horses.

Sophia: This young seamstress is on her own and happy about it. That doesn't mean she isn't more than ready to welcome her dream lover. Unfortunately, her brawny yet wounded stallion is not quite ready to claim her as his own.

Susana: As the primary healer in Hornview, Susana should be far too busy to find one mate, let alone two. All her life she's dreamed of marrying a Horseman. Now she must choose between one she thought she could love and another she desires beyond endurance.

OTHER CHARACTERS

Canyon: Son of Terra and Inez.

Casper: Captain of the Guard in Hornview. This tall, blond human male believes Horsemen are only good for harvesting rock blood. He does little to hide his disgust for the shapeshifting species.

General Sota: Leader of the Fighting Carriers.

Hornview's Chieftain: Leader of Hornview. Knowing that his village is supported by Gatherings, his main interest is keeping good relations with the Horsemen. His duties aren't always simple, especially when dealing with the prejudice of people like his Captain of the Guard.

Jonis: Moor's regular rider. He has hopes of one day riding in a race such as the King Montague's Flame.

Kraig: A stunning, red-coated Fighting Carrier, recently graduated and harboring a deadly hatred of his former instructor, Terra.

Lina: Pete's wife and Silas' mother. She has Highlander blood on her father's side.

Linn: This powerful, handsome Horsemen has just become a Fighting Carrier and is more than ready to serve. Linn is quite taken with a certain young healer who is ready to settle down in Hornview.

Maria: A new healer in Hornview. This lady has set her heart on a certain young Fighting Carrier who appears to have ties to another.

Pete: Moor's older brother. A farmer content with his life as a family man.

Phillipa: No woman is more statuesque and sensual than one with Horsemen blood in her veins. Phillipa is Terra's sister, a messenger who has put to good use her gift of taming true horses.

Silas: Moor's nephew. This powerful boy dreams of becoming a famous puller someday.

Tam: This old Highlander has spent too many years chained in the Vertue Mountains. Captivity hasn't stopped him from offering a kind word to other slaves.
