Carrier: A Horseman who carries humans or cargo on journeys. Usually fast and sleek.
Fighting Carriers: Elite military organization boasting the strongest, fastest Carriers in the world.
Full Coat: A layer of hair Horsemen sprout at will that covers their entire man-torso to protect them during harsh weather.
Gatherer: A human trained to ride Horsemen on journeys to harvest Rock Blood.
Gathering Party: A journey taken by several Horsemen and humans to collect Rock Blood from either the frigid northern Spikelands or the sweltering tropics.
Highlander: Powerful, draft horse-type Horseman who usually migrates toward a career in farming, building, or competitive pulling.
Longhouse: A main building in the center of a village used for meetings and social events. Usually the home of the Chieftain, his guards, and other important members of the village.
Puller: A Horseman whose profession is entering pulling contests.
Racer: A Horseman who earns his living by entering races with the hope of living off the prize money.
Rock Blood: A living substance that hatches and grows in places with severe weather conditions, such as the Spikelands and the tropics. Protected by a crusty outer-layer, the liquid core is the only cure for the Plague that haunts the world's human population.
Running Way: A large, circular clearing that Horsemen use to gallop for takeoff.
Spikelands: A group of northern islands that are frozen throughout the year yet during the winter months are struck by deadly winter storms called Spikes.
Spikes: Winter weather so severe that the only creatures able to survive in it are ice lizards.
Tack House: A building that Horsemen use to store tack and shift shape while living among humans.
Turning Point: The area in a Horseman's lower back that triggers shapechanging. An erogenous zone, the Turning Point is highly sensitive. While the right touch can provide exquisite pleasure, a strike to the area causes severe injury and possibly death.
