Breeding facilities are illegal and the Network is attempting to shut them all down. Community (The): Located in New York City. A loosely connected group of vampires and humans who do not "fit in" among their own kind. Coven (The): Religious group founded in the Middle Ages by Gamel. December-February: Mating season on the vampire home planet. Familiar: An animal that is able to communicate with a practitioner of magic. First Father: Formerly the title of Luci, the most evil of all vampires. Currently the title of the Network's figurehead, Adam Lindsay. Flower (The)/Deep Red: The plant that fed the Originals on the vampires' home planet. Human's Disease: A disease that attacks the infected vampire's heart and other organs. In hybrids, death is almost instant, but Immaculates can suffer for weeks before expiring. The powers of regeneration are destroyed and the infected Immaculate cannot keep down blood. Some of the symptoms can be controlled with medication that was created by Matthew Winter. Now there is also a cure for the disease. Hybrid: A vampire created by the bite of another vampire. The physically weakest type of vampire. If conditioned, most are able to walk by day. Hybrids require human blood to survive. Immaculate: A vampire born to a vampire couple. Immaculates have almost the same physical strength as Originals but most also possess the ability to walk by day. Immaculates require the blood of other vampires to survive. Jury (The): A group of six hybrids and Immaculates who make the Network's most serious decisions. Misoria: Similar to Human's Disease, but doesn't affect regeneration. Caused by exposure to poison from a certain plant from the vampire home planet. Eventually the infected vampire's system expels the poison and Misoria is rarely fatal, though it is extremely uncomfortable. Network (The): An organized group of vampires who keep order among their kind. The Network is involved in law enforcement, historical documentation, and medical advancement for vampires worldwide. Original: A vampire from the vampire planet. The "true" vampires. The most powerful type of vampire. An ancient species with advanced technology. Masters of what appears as "magic" to hybrids and Earth vampires. platinum: substance vampires are highly allergic to. Unlike the legends say, vampires have no aversion to silver, only to platinum. Poet's Manor: A Boston hotel that is the front for the Network's North American Headquarters. Rosa's Rings: The name of Rosa's Ferrer's Network approved fighting rings/vampire clubs. Locations: New York City, Boston (Rosa's Ring II), Scotland, among others. self-wiping: A chant used by a vampire to erase his/her memories. Not permanent for repressing memories and also very dangerous. Teh aftereffects lead to madness and possible suicide. Underbelly: A spiritual realm where the souls of vampires not killed by the proper ritual can be trapped. They can also be resurrected from the Underbelly with the correct conditions and ritual. Werewolf/Wolf: Guards dogs of the Originals' military police, a small group of wolves still exist. Through unauthorized scientific experimentation, they have been mixed with human and vampires to create several new species.
