Chained to the wall of half-human bootlegger Romeo Taurean's hideaway, an undercover reporter risks everything for the story of a lifetime.
A masked outlaw for the past two decades, Romeo has been the perfect pirate, but he longs for another kind of excitement. The kind that can only be found buried in the silken warmth of a woman who wants nothing more than to expose his criminal secrets to the entire galaxy... or so it seems.
The following excerpt from THE BUTTERSCOTCH BRUTE is for readers 18 and over.
Excerpt from THE BUTTERSCOTCH BRUTE:
"What are you doing?" Corazon snapped, trying to pull away from Romeo Taurean's steely grip. She was about to strike him, gouge out those gleaming black eyes, but when he looked at her she found she couldn't.
"You think you've fooled me. You thought to present yourself as a pirate, a criminal. You should have known better, woman. Don't you realize these Softspeaker eyes of mine see everything?"
"Romeo, tell me what you're going to do."
"I'm going to give you time to think. Then I'm going to send you away."
"Send me where?"
"Back to where you came from, journalist, so you can write your little story. If there is a breath of decency in your body, you will tell the truth of it."
"The truth?" The reporter in her overcame the angry woman and she followed him calmly, waiting for him to continue. By the time they arrived at a cottage nestled deep in the forest, curiosity gnawed at her, as did desire. The emotion in his eyes, the warmth of his hand on her arm, and the way his long strides seemed to swallow the forest floor made her tingle all over.
The cottage was far too dark for mere human eyes, but he saw perfectly. Before she realized what was happening, his big body pinned hers against the wall and he snapped her wrist into manacles above her head. Screaming, she kicked at him, but he caught her legs and shackled them to the floor.
"Let me go, you bastard!" she roared, shaking her bonds to no avail. A dim light shone from the ceiling. Corazon stilled, glancing around the cottage's single room furnished only with an ancient wood burning stove and a cot covered in a faded blanket. Panting, she glared at Romeo who stood, his long legs braced apart and his powerful arms folded across his broad chest.
Without saying a word, he left.
